Who was Nathan Bedford Forrest and how do you consider him? Do you think that he was good or bad for history?

He was an excellent Confederate General found himself in some astounding situations that he fought himself out of. He is believed to be the founder of the KKK. But it's original intentions were something akin to the masons. It's the fact that it's founder was a confederate leader and rebel after unconditional surrender had been signed, that led to it's "South will Rise Again" and racial policies. I think on the whole he could be considered negative. But during his lifetime he did what he was trained to do and that was to effectively lead troops in battle against an opposing force.
